The Red Sea Ports Corporation has vehemently denied reports claiming that the commercial vessel GAZ GMS, which is subject to U.S. sanctions, docked and unloaded its cargo at the port of Mokha. The corporation stated that these reports are entirely baseless.
In a press release, the corporation asserted that port records and implemented monitoring systems confirm that the vessel never entered the Mokha port premises. It emphasized its adherence to international legal standards and its refusal to receive or provide any services to vessels under international sanctions.
The statement further clarified that the port administration implements stringent inspection procedures for all arriving vessels and complies with relevant international laws and resolutions. It confirmed that the port does not engage with sanctioned commercial networks or facilitate the entry of prohibited goods.
The corporation condemned attempts to involve the Mokha port in such misleading reports, stressing that maritime traffic at the port is subject to continuous and transparent oversight in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Yemen.
The Red Sea Ports Corporation reiterated that its ports, including Mokha, do not receive any sanctioned vessels and deny them any services, including transit. It urged media outlets and news sources to exercise accuracy and credibility, and to consult official sources within the ministry and port administration for correct information before publishing news that could harm the reputation and international interests of Yemeni ports.
