Como Secures Chalobah Deal with Chelsea for £30M

Como is on the verge of a major defensive signing, having reached an agreement with Chelsea for Trevoh Chalobah. The England international is reportedly set to undergo his medical and sign a five-year contract, with the total package potentially reaching around £30 million.

Cesc Fàbregas' Como side is gearing up for the demands of Champions League football and needs experienced reinforcements. Chalobah, who can play in multiple defensive roles, fits the bill, bringing Premier League experience and leadership to the team. The transfer fee is understood to be an initial £25 million, with an additional £5 million tied to performance-based bonuses, and the contract is expected to run until 2031.

Chalobah's versatility is a key asset for Como, as he is comfortable operating in both a back three and a traditional back four, capable of defending large spaces, advancing with the ball, and covering various defensive positions. Chelsea, having made significant squad changes and increased competition at centre-back, finds the sale financially appealing, especially as Chalobah's transfer fee will count as pure profit, aiding their Financial Fair Play efforts.

The agreement reportedly includes a sell-on clause, giving Chelsea potential future earnings if Chalobah moves for a higher fee later. While Inter Milan and other clubs had shown prior interest, Como moved swiftly to secure the deal. For Chalobah, the move presents a guaranteed regular role and Champions League participation, opportunities Chelsea couldn't offer.

This transfer is seen as a strong piece of business for Como, acquiring a player with over 100 Premier League appearances who can instantly enhance their defensive structure and physicality. The move also allows Chelsea to streamline their squad after strengthening with players like Maxence Lacroix.
