Qatar Donates New Air Force One Replacement to US

President Donald Trump on Friday unveiled a new aircraft intended to replace the U.S. Air Force One, a gift from Qatar, which he described as a "flying White House."

Speaking at an event, President Trump lauded the Gulf nation for its generosity, stating, "This is considered the world's most luxurious plane." He further commended Qatar for being "so nice and providing" the aircraft, valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.

The donation has previously prompted concerns regarding ethics, constitutional implications, and security. President Trump had earlier remarked that rejecting the gift would be "stupid" and later suggested the plane would eventually be donated to his presidential library, further intensifying scrutiny.

At Joint Base Andrews, President Trump praised the extensive modifications made to the jet, highlighting the "extraordinary devotion" involved in transforming it into a uniquely luxurious "flying White House." He specifically noted the high quality of the materials, woods, and engines, expressing gratitude to the Emir of Qatar.

President Trump repeatedly emphasized the aircraft's size and engine power, claiming it possesses superior range and speed compared to existing Air Force One models. He indicated the new aircraft might feature in a flyover for the upcoming 250th U.S. Independence Day celebrations on July 4.

The President has consistently advocated for replacing the current Air Force One fleet, which has been operational since the 1990s, since the beginning of his term. Speculation about the new jet's imminent unveiling intensified following a farewell event for one of the long-serving Boeing 747s on Thursday.
