Santa Clara County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday at a large, unsanctioned party in Morgan Hill, leaving one person dead and seven others injured, authorities confirmed.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene following reports of disturbances around 10:15 p.m., which included complaints of intoxicated individuals in the street and one person reportedly throwing bottles at vehicles. The gathering, promoted online, had drawn approximately 300 attendees.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a large number of people fleeing the area. A subsequent investigation revealed that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound from a handgun, while seven others incurred injuries.
