Political sources familiar with the UN envoy’s actions confirmed that his suspicious roles exacerbate the crisis in Yemen and place him as part of the problem, not the solution.
The sources indicated that Martin Griffiths' bias has become apparent with the Houthi militia and the Brotherhood movement in Yemen.
"Instead of pressuring the Houthi militias to abide by their pledges, he encouraged them to disregard international efforts to find a peaceful solution in Yemen, and instead of the UN envoy seeking to implement United Nations resolutions in Yemen, he is dealing with the Houthis as a political party in the conflict parallel to the internationally recognized government". the sources said.
Griffiths no longer perceives (the Houthis), supported by Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah, as a coup group that (usurped) power by force of arms and forced children into its battles against government forces, as is the case with regard to what the Muslim Brotherhood militia are doing and undermining "legitimate" authority to serve their goals and interests which are also supported by the same envoy.
The sources did not rule out that regional and international parties would stand behind this, who do not want a military or political settlement in Yemen, but rather an extension of the war.
In the same context, intelligence sources revealed a major Qatari role in influencing the movements and decisions of Martin Griffiths.
The sources clarified that Qatar, and through what the sources described as the British lobby supported by it in the British decision-making circles, "whereby the UN envoy moves," is the one (Qatar) who plays an influential role in drawing Griffith's movements and briefings, for the benefit of the Brotherhood and Houthi militias in Yemen, the two parties that are motivated by the Iranian-Turkish- Qatari agenda and interests.
This comes at a time when the Houthi militia announced its welcome to the statement of the recent UN envoy on Hodeidah and the Stockholm Agreement, which sided with the militia and did not address their ongoing crimes and violations there.
