Crystal Palace Eyes Defender Ladislav Krejci, But Leeds Leads the Chase

Crystal Palace is reportedly keeping a close watch on defender Ladislav Krejci, a player who has also become a significant target for Leeds United. The Czech Republic international, who spent the recent season on loan at Wolves from La Liga's Girona, is drawing considerable attention as the summer transfer window heats up.

According to a TEAMtalk report, Leeds United appears to be in the driver's seat, ready to submit a formal offer for the defender. Leeds manager Daniel Farke's team has shown consistent interest in Krejci, having previously inquired about him in January to gauge his readiness for a Premier League move. They are reportedly willing to spend around £26 million to acquire his services permanently from parent club Girona.

While Krejci has garnered interest from Spain's La Liga following his strong performances with Girona, the report suggests the player himself favors a continued stay in England. This preference significantly bolsters Leeds' chances of securing a deal.

Crystal Palace, along with Brentford, has also conducted extensive scouting on the World Cup-bound player, identifying him as a key defensive reinforcement. However, the report indicates that while scouting has been thorough, Leeds is the most advanced in their pursuit.

The Eagles' immediate focus, however, is on appointing a new permanent manager after Oliver Glasner's exit. While their recruitment team continues to track defensive prospects like Krejci, any concrete transfer activity is likely on hold until a new manager is in place to steer the club through its upcoming European campaign.
