Bayern Munich's pursuit of highly-rated Liverpool attacker Rio Ngumoha has reportedly hit a roadblock, with a verbal agreement for a summer transfer now collapsed.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg indicated that the German giants had been in talks with the 17-year-old for weeks, reaching a preliminary agreement with Ngumoha and his representatives late last month. However, the deal is currently off the table, leaving the future of the young talent uncertain.
Liverpool, meanwhile, is adamant about keeping Ngumoha, viewing him as a crucial part of their long-term plans. The attacker made a significant impact in his first-team appearances last season, clocking just over 1000 minutes and scoring three goals. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany was reportedly involved in personal discussions with Ngumoha, giving the move his approval.
Adding to the uncertainty, David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Liverpool has no intention of selling Ngumoha, aiming to strengthen their squad this summer rather than offloading key young prospects. Ornstein emphasized that Ngumoha is considered a world-class talent with immense potential, and the club cannot afford to lose such an elite prospect.
Ngumoha showcased his quality during his cameos in the Premier League last season, and attention now turns to whether he will be given a more prominent role in Liverpool's squad for the upcoming campaign.
