The Political Bureau of the National Resistance has vowed that justice will be served against those involved in the terrorist act that targeted Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, commander of the First Brigade of the National Resistance Infantry, asserting that the blood of the martyr and his companions will not be shed in vain.
This statement was issued following the martyrdom of Brigadier General Yahya Wahish and one of his escorts, with two others injured, due to an explosive device bearing Houthi fingerprints that targeted their convoy in the city of Al-Khawkhah, south of Hodeidah Governorate.
The bureau described the incident as a treacherous terrorist operation that targeted one of the most prominent military and national leaders within the National Resistance. It highlighted that the martyred General Wahish was among the founding leaders of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance and an early opponent of the Houthi militia's project since its inception in Sa'dah Governorate.
The Political Bureau affirmed that Brigadier General Wahish had made significant national contributions throughout his struggle against the Houthi militia, having early recognized the dangers it posed to the republican system, Yemen's security, stability, and social peace. The statement characterized his battles against the militia as among the bravest in defense of the state and the republic.
The statement further noted that the martyred general was a key leader who participated in the battles to liberate the West Coast and contributed to inflicting successive defeats upon the Houthi militia on various fronts. It emphasized that his targeting was not merely personal but an assault on all Yemeni people and the republican forces opposing the Houthi agenda.
The Political Bureau considered Brigadier General Wahish's passing a profound national loss for the National Resistance, the Tihamah Resistance, and the Yemeni people at large, given his symbolic national status and his pivotal role as a field commander in the battle to restore the state and counter Iranian influence in Yemen.
The bureau reiterated its condolences to the Yemeni people, the family of the martyred general, his companions, and the leadership and members of the Political Bureau. It reaffirmed that justice would pursue the perpetrators of this crime and those behind it, and that the blood of the martyrs would continue to fuel the battle to restore the state and end the Houthi coup.
