Kieran Trippier is reportedly considering ripping up his contract with Wolves just days after agreeing to join, following the bombshell sacking of manager Rob Edwards.
The veteran defender is said to be furious and feels completely blindsided, as Edwards was the key reason he decided to move to Molineux. Trippier had reportedly cut his holiday short to sign a pre-contract agreement, with his official two-year deal set to kick off on July 1 after his Newcastle contract expires.
Edwards saw the former England international as a crucial leader for the squad, especially after Wolves' relegation. The club had also recently secured striker Raul Jimenez. Trippier apparently turned down multiple Premier League offers and lucrative moves to Saudi Arabia, all for the chance to work with Edwards on his long-term vision.
Trippier's move to Wolves was expected to mirror his transformative impact at Newcastle, where he helped spark the club's resurgence. Now, with the manager gone, Trippier is apparently exploring options to terminate his agreement. Reports suggest several senior players have already contacted Edwards to voice their disappointment.
Despite the internal uproar, Wolves are moving fast to find a replacement. The club is reportedly close to appointing Portuguese manager César Peixoto, who impressed by guiding Gil Vicente to a sixth-place finish in Portugal's top league last season.
