Rashford Open to Man Utd Stay Amid Transfer Uncertainty

Marcus Rashford is leaning towards staying at Manchester United for preseason training after his loan spell, with his future at Old Trafford now looking more likely than a move to Barcelona or other Premier League clubs.

The 28-year-old England forward, currently focused on the World Cup, faces a decision about his club future upon his return. Barcelona's decision to let his €30 million buy-out clause expire means he is on track to rejoin Manchester United. While Rashford had expressed a desire to stay at Barcelona and manager Hansi Flick was reportedly keen, the club's signing of Anthony Gordon seems to have lowered Rashford's priority, though they haven't completely ruled out a move.

According to The Athletic, Rashford's preference is to remain with Manchester United rather than join a rival Premier League team. He currently has a £40 million release clause, which any club except Liverpool and Manchester City can trigger. Aston Villa, his former loan club, has also been linked with him multiple times.

Despite having two years left on his United contract and initial speculation suggesting he would leave this summer, there's a new possibility he could stay at the club. This comes after Barcelona opted not to exercise their purchase option, which expired on Monday, meaning Rashford is expected to return for preseason training with Manchester United after the World Cup.

However, Manchester United reportedly has no current plans to reintegrate Rashford into the first team. While manager Michael Carrick was interested in bringing him back, leadership discussions indicate no intention to include him in the squad. Manchester United appears set to pursue a permanent sale for Rashford, regardless of whether Barcelona is the destination.
