Spurs Eye Veteran Goalkeeper Dubravka for Backup Role

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly targeting Burnley's Martin Dubravka as their primary choice to strengthen their backup goalkeeper position this summer. The club is keen on bringing in an experienced shot-stopper to provide stability during a crucial rebuilding phase following a challenging domestic season.

According to reliable Tottenham insider Paul O'Keefe, the North London club has identified a shortlist of candidates for the secondary goalkeeping role. The 37-year-old Slovakian international, Dubravka, has emerged as the leading contender on this list.

With significant Premier League experience, Dubravka is seen by Spurs' hierarchy as an ideal and dependable option to add immediate depth to the squad. However, he is not the sole name under consideration, as O'Keefe also notes that Brighton's Jason Steele and Leeds' Karl Darlow are being monitored.

This increased recruitment activity suggests a significant goalkeeping reshuffle is on the horizon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Current first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario is widely expected to depart the club during the transfer window, with strong interest reportedly coming from clubs like Inter Milan.

The potential exit of Vicario necessitates the search for his replacement, and while other prospects like Antonin Kinsky have shown promise, securing a proven Premier League veteran like Dubravka aligns with manager Roberto De Zerbi's goal of ensuring the team remains well-stocked with reliable talent, regardless of the final decision on the starting keeper.
