U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, a senior advisor to President Trump, are scheduled to visit Doha to engage with Qatari mediators concerning ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran.
Qatar's foreign ministry spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, confirmed the upcoming visit during a media briefing on Tuesday. He clarified that there would be no high-level meeting directly between Washington and Tehran as part of these discussions.
Al Ansari also addressed reports concerning Iranian funds, stating that Qatar has not transferred the $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds to Tehran. The spokesperson reiterated Qatar's role as a mediator in facilitating communication between the two nations.
Furthermore, Doha has been collaborating with Oman, a neighboring country situated on the western coast of the Strait of Hormuz, to ensure the safe passage of maritime vessels. This coordination underscores Qatar's broader diplomatic efforts in the region.
