Manager Roberto De Zerbi offered insights into Mykhailo Mudryk's fitness journey and provided candid feedback on another attacking talent after Tottenham's goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham's start to the season has been a muted affair, marked by an inability to find the back of the net and secure a victory in their opening three matches. Saturday's performance against Nottingham Forest, a stalemate, did little to quell concerns surrounding one of the club's significant summer investments.
De Zerbi addressed the team's performance post-match, specifically fielding questions about his attackers, who notably failed to register a single shot on target during the game. Mykhailo Mudryk, making his debut for Tottenham during his loan spell from Chelsea, played 20 minutes, prompting questions about his contribution.
"He's not ready yet. He's working to reach the best physical condition. He needs time, he needs work," De Zerbi stated regarding Mudryk. He then turned his attention to other players, remarking, "In that position, we have Mathys Tel, big potential. But also Mathys takes too many wrong decisions, and Mudryk. So, two big players, two big potential players."
The manager elaborated further on scoring opportunities, contrasting them with pure shots on goal. "But anyway, if we want to score, I think Marmoush has 15 goals. Solanke, the chance header for Solanke, I consider a chance to score. It's not a shot on goal. But how many shots did Nottingham have today? I think, anyway, it was a good game."
