According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Genoa are preparing a bid to buy Helsingborgs talent Armin Gigovic for €3million (£2.7million) amid interest from Arsenal.
It’s claimed that Gigovic is considered to be the next Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, so it’s no great surprise to see Italian clubs attempting to sign him in an attempt to match the Lazio star’s success.
He’s similarly tall and athletic, whilst he is able to play deep or box-to-box in midfield. Gigovic has 16 first-team appearances already, with one assist to his name.
Genoa are allegedly prepared to put forward £2.7million to sign the teenager, in the hope of finding another top young talent just like they did with Krzysztof Piatek.
The problem for Genoa is that much bigger clubs have been linked with the Swede, and could pose major threats to Genoa’s chances of landing him.
For instance, BT recently reported that Arsenal want to sign him, but Manchester City and a host of other clubs are also in the race for the 18-year-old.
That report stated that Helsingborgs have been offered around £1.29million for Gigovic in the past, so Genoa are at least doubling the money on the table.
If Arsenal are set on adding Gigovic to their crop of young talents, then they may need to move quickly. Gunners fans would expect them to blow a team like Genoa out of the water, so it’s now up to them to decide just how much they want Gigovic.
