The Head of the Political Bureau of the Yemeni National Resistance, Brigadier General Tariq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, held a meeting, on Monday, with the UK Ambassador to Yemen, Mr. Michael Aron, to discuss developments in the Yemeni arena.
The meeting discussed a number of political and military issues as well as developments, including the announcement of the Political Bureau. It also discussed the opportunities for peace in light of the initiative proposed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a comprehensive ceasefire.
The UK ambassador welcomed the announcement of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance, describing it as a good progress, wishing success in its duties.
"We hope that the Political Bureau will contribute to supporting political solutions to the crisis and achieving the peace that Yemenis deserve". Mr. Aron said.
Mr. Michael Aaron stressed the importance of building on the Saudi Initiative and international moves as an entry point for a ceasefire and an end to the war, and also an end to human suffering.
For his part, Brigadier General Tariq praised the efforts made by the United Kingdom in supporting efforts to end the war and bring peace to Yemen, explaining to His Excellency the desired goals of announced the Political Bureau, and the importance of it in supporting the political process that the Yemenis and all their friends hope will be restored.
Brigadier General Tariq reiterated the welcome and support for the initiative proposed by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a comprehensive ceasefire, and support for the moves led by brotherly and friendly countries to bring peace and alleviate the suffering of the Yemenis.
"The Iran-backed Houthi militia response to this initiative and international efforts by escalating their military offensives on Marib and the Kingdom reflects their attitude toward peace". General Tariq said.
He pointed to the daily violations perpetrated by the Houthis and their repeated bombing of populated neighborhoods and citizens' homes in different areas of Hodeidah Governorate.
The meeting, which was held via "video conference", affirmed the support for the efforts made by the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths, and the efforts made by brotherly and friendly countries to reach a comprehensive ceasefire that prepares for a political solution that does not exclude any political force and leads to a fair peace for all Yemenis.
