Police have identified a woman whose body was found in D.C. last year and say that she may be linked to the alleged shopping cart killer, Anthony Robinson.
Authorities identified the woman as Sonya Champ. Champ was discovered in the 200 block of F Street NE on Sept. 7, 2021 inside a shopping cart by a passerby. That person called 911 and the first responders pronounced Champ dead at 12:15 p.m. Fairfax County Police Department officials confirmed the agency only recently learned of her death.
The positive identification comes one day after Fairfax County Police announced Friday night that two other women, also the shopping cart killer's possible victims, were identified.
At a Friday night press conference, Fairfax Police Chief Kevin Davis confirmed the remains of two women found in the Alexandria area of the county were positively identified as 29-year-old Cheyenne Brown of D.C. and 48-year-old Stephanie Harrison of Redding, California. Their remains were found along Route 1 on Dec. 15.
Authorities say Robinson found his victims on dating sites -- like Plenty of Fish and Tagged -- and then met them at area motels. Davis said that Robinson inflicted trauma on his victims, then killed them.
"He transported the bodies of [the Harrisonburg] women in a shopping cart," Davis said Friday. "We believe he transported at least one of our Fairfax County victims in a shopping cart as well."
Robinson, 35, is the primary and sole suspect in their murders. Robinson is currently sitting in Rockingham County Adult Detention Center charged with the murder of two other women
