Houthis arrest followers of the Zaidi Sect in Yemen's Saada and Amran

Local sources said that the Houthi militia had carried out a large-scale arrest campaign, on Tuesday, following the Zaidi, Mohammed al-Mu'aydi, against the background of Fatwas banning fighting with Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi.

The militia members carried out a campaign of arrests and kidnappings of supporters of Mohammed Abdullah Awad al-Mu'aydi and Abdul Hamid Abu Ali, in the governorates of Saada and Amran. The sources stated.

In contrast to the Houthi campaign, the sources indicated that the supporters of al-Mu'aydi in the governorates of Saada, Amran and Hajjah had fallen into an urgent meeting to discuss options for responding to the Houthis.

Al-Mu'aydi is considered the second caliph since 2014 of the Zaydi religious authority, Majd al-Din al-Mu'aydi, the traditional dispute over the leadership of the Zaidi sect in Saada, the stronghold of both sides.

The disputes between the two parties are not the result of the moment, and extend for decades. The sources added.
