Real Madrid Crowned FIFA Club World Cup Champions Again As Toni Kroos Makes History

Real Madrid won the FIFA Club World Cup for a record-enhancing fifth time by beating Al-Hilal in Saturday's final in Morocco.

The European champions, who had thrashed Egypt's Al Ahly 4-1 in the semi-finals, won 5-3 against last season's Saudi Pro League winners.

Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde each scored twice in the final.

Karim Benzema scored the other goal for Real, who became the 10th straight European team to win the Club World Cup.

Two of Al-Hilal's goal came courtesy of Luciano Vietto, while Moussa Marega was also on the scoresheet.

Toni Kroos played 74 minutes for Real as he set a new record as the first player ever to win the Club World Cup six times.

Kroos has featured in all five of Real's victorious campaigns - previously in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 - after first lifting the trophy with Bayern Munich in 2013.

Meanwhile, Real regulars Luka Modric, Nacho Fernandez, Daniel Carvajal and Karim Benzema all became five-time winners on Saturday.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is the second manager to win the Club World Cup three times, equaling the record set by Pep Guardiola, who led Barcelona to global glory in 2009, 2011 and 2013.
