Talks about anything other than stopping this war is unacceptable: Palestine’s Abbas

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in a speech that talking about anything else rather than stopping this war is unacceptable, Reuters reported early on Wednesday.

The Palestinian president said that targeting Al-Ahli hospital is a “hideous war massacre” that cannot be tolerated, adding that any talks about anything else rather than stopping the war is unacceptable.

“Israel has crossed all red lines. ... We will not leave nor allow anyone to expel us from there”, he added.

Health authorities in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip said that an Israeli air strike caused the blast while Israel’s military attributed it to a failed rocket launch by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group.

Earlier, a senior Palestinian official said Abbas had canceled his participation in a meeting scheduled Wednesday with President Joe Biden and other Mideast leaders.

But the senior official said Abbas withdrew to protest the alleged Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza that Hamas health officials say has killed over 500 people.
