Ukraine forces destroy 6 Russian Su-25s in Tavria sector in October

Ukraine’s Armed Forces shot down six Russian Su-25 fighter jets in the Tavria direction in October, a Ukrainian military spokesman said on Monday.

“As for front-line aviation – Su-25 attack aircraft – I know they don't feel safe. Six Su-25s have crashed and burned since October 10,” said spokesperson for the defense forces of the Tavria sector, Oleksandr Shtupun, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

He added that Russian Su-35 and Su-34 enjoy relative safety because they have the ability to drop guided bombs from afar. “They are relatively safe because our air defenses cannot get them.”

Shtupun stressed that Russia has quite powerful logistics. “We disable their equipment only for a short time. Our intelligence and partisans or people who sympathize with us record all this and we destroy the enemy's equipment as much as possible. In some areas, the enemy is experiencing a shortage of ammunition. They are trying to compensate for this with air strikes,” the Ukrainian military spokesman stated.

On the other side, a Russian spokesman said on Monday forces destroyed an observation post of the Ukrainian army and struck amassed troops in the Kherson area over the past day, as cited by state news agency TASS.

“Dnepr battlegroup units inflicted damage on the enemy by firepower in the Kherson direction, destroying two boats on the Dnepr River (the Ukrainian army’s casualties: 10 soldiers were killed), amassed adversary manpower at an observation post near Kruglik Island (casualties: five Ukrainian servicemen were eliminated), enemy troop clusters near Alyoshkinsky Island (casualties: 10 Ukrainian soldiers were killed), a 152mm 2A36 Giatsint-B towed gun near the settlement of Tyaginka (casualties: five Ukrainian personnel were killed and two others were wounded),” Russian spokesman for the regional emergency services said.

He added that Russian forces also destroyed a Ukrainian 120mm mortar with its team and ammunition near the settlement of Ivanovka and a D-20 howitzer with ammunition near Tokarevka in the island zone and an enemy fire emplacement in the Kakhovka direction.
