Health ministry in Gaza says war death toll at 35,091
Reuters
The health ministry in Gaza said Monday that at least 35,091 people have been killed in the territory during more than seven months of war between Israel and Palestinian militants.
The toll includes at least 57 deaths over the past 24 hours, a ministry statement said, adding that 78,827 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war began when Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7.
The fighting has laid waste to the enclave and caused a deep humanitarian crisis, with the Gaza health ministry warning on Monday that the medical system is on the verge of collapse due to a shortage of fuel to power generators and ambulances.
