Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth extends the USS Harry S. Truman deployment to the Red Sea, a US official said Friday.
The move gives the US military two aircraft carriers in the region for at least one more week. The other aircraft carrier strike group is led by the USS Carl Vinson, which arrived in the US Central Command (CENTOM) area of responsibility last month as part of the daily US operations against Yemen's Houthis.
The bombing campaign escalated on March 15 after President Donald Trump ordered a more aggressive approach to pressure the militant group to stop attacking ships in the Red Sea.
