Ollie Watkins has heaped praise on Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, calling his ability "unbelievable" and "frightening" ahead of their World Cup duties with England. Both forwards have had standout seasons, culminating in silverware for each.
Rashford, currently on loan from Manchester United, celebrated a La Liga title win with Barcelona and secured the Spanish Super Cup. Meanwhile, Watkins was a key player in Aston Villa's Europa League triumph, contributing five goals and two assists in his 15 appearances before the final.
Speaking on the Rio Meets podcast with Rio Ferdinand, Watkins reflected on Rashford's impact, particularly during a Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain. "There were times where... he absolutely ripped them apart," Watkins recalled. "I’m on the sideline thinking, ‘I shouldn’t come on here really!’ I knew Marcus’s talent. He was unbelievable. His ability is frightening."
Following the World Cup, Rashford's future at Manchester United is expected to be a major talking point. Despite his successful loan spell, reports suggest Barcelona may struggle to afford him, especially after their recent acquisition of Anthony Gordon. While a cut-price offer of £13 million has been rumored, United are likely to reject it, potentially valuing Rashford higher than the £26 million buy-out clause.
Even with a managerial change at Old Trafford, it appears the 28-year-old forward does not have a future at his boyhood club. Manchester United are reportedly looking to generate funds from Rashford's sale to reinvest in a replacement.
