President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Iran was responsible for the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter during a patrol over the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that the United States would retaliate without providing further specifics.

"I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz," Trump wrote.
