Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi has stressed the urgent need to expedite judicial proceedings against those involved in the assassination of Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, commander of the First National Resistance Division. Al-Alimi emphasized the importance of convening the Specialized Criminal Court in Taiz Governorate to commence a swift and fair trial, ensuring the enforcement of law and the achievement of justice.
This directive was issued during a phone call between Al-Alimi and Major General Rtd. Tarek Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and commander of the National Resistance and head of its Political Bureau, to receive an update on the investigation's progress and the measures being taken in the case.
During the conversation, Tarek Saleh briefed the Chairman on the findings of the initial investigations conducted by the relevant security agencies. He indicated that the direct perpetrators of the assassination have been apprehended while attempting to flee by sea, and that investigations have confirmed their direct links to the Houthi terrorist militia.
Tarek Saleh affirmed that security agencies are continuing their investigative and field operations to uncover all circumstances of the crime and track down all those implicated, with the aim of bringing them to justice and holding them accountable under the law.
The Presidential Leadership Council Chairman lauded the security vigilance and exceptional efforts of the specialized agencies, which resulted in the swift tracking and apprehension of the culprits in a record time. He considered this a testament to the competence of the security apparatus and its ability to confront various security challenges.
Al-Alimi reiterated the state's commitment to imposing the rule of law and pursuing elements involved in terrorist acts, emphasizing that the course of justice will be fully pursued against all those involved in this crime, thereby ensuring general deterrence and just retribution for the blood of the martyrs.
