West Coast Mourns Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, a Key Resistance Leader

The city of Al Khokha, the temporary administrative capital of Hodeidah Governorate, solemnly bid farewell to Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, the commander of the First Division of the National Resistance, on Tuesday afternoon. A massive funeral procession, attended by a large contingent of military and civilian leaders, social figures, and citizens from across the West Coast, honored one of the most prominent field commanders in the battle against the Houthi militia.


The funeral procession extended from the city of Mocha to Al Khokha along the coastal road, a display that reflected the scale of popular and official attendance and the esteemed position of the martyred general among his comrades-in-arms and the people of the region, who knew him as a field commander present on the front lines of various fronts.


Among those who led the mourners were the Governor of Hodeidah, Dr. Hassan Taher; the Assistant Commander of the National Resistance for Operations, Major General Abdulrahman Nu'man; and the First Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance, Sheikh Nasser Bajeel, alongside several brigade commanders, military units, local authority leaders, executive offices, and tribal dignitaries of the governorate.


Colonel Ibrahim Al Balawi, Assistant Commander of the Saudi Operations Base in Mocha, also participated in the funeral and prayers for the martyred general, expressing appreciation for his contributions during years of confrontation on the battlefronts.


Following the funeral prayers, the martyred general was laid to rest in Al Khokha amidst a somber atmosphere, where attendees recalled his heroic stands and long struggle against the Houthi agenda. Participants emphasized that Brigadier General Yahya Wahish dedicated over a decade of his life to the battlefields, moving between various national fronts since the start of the confrontations with the Houthi militia. He became one of the most prominent leaders from Tihamah who contributed to the establishment of the Tihamah brigades and strengthened their presence in the battles of the West Coast.


They noted that the martyred general left a significant mark on military and field operations and earned the respect of his comrades and fighters for his known courage, bravery, and consistent presence on the front lines, affirming that his departure represents a significant loss for the national forces and the West Coast in particular. The mourners stressed that the blood of the martyred Wahish and his fellow martyrs in the national battle will remain a catalyst for continuing the struggle against the Houthi militia. They affirmed that the principles he believed in and the values he embodied in his military life will continue to resonate with the fighters who followed his path and carried the banner of defending the republic and restoring state institutions.


Brigadier General Yahya Wahish was one of the most prominent military leaders whose name became associated with the battles of the West Coast in recent years. He played a crucial role in leading numerous field operations and left a military legacy that will remain etched in the memory of his comrades and the people of the region who shared years of confrontation and sacrifice with him.
