President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the United States and Iran are engaged in discussions aimed at resolving their long-standing conflict, though he cautioned that Tehran has not yet reached a point of readiness for an agreement.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump confirmed the ongoing dialogue, indicating a potential shift in the tenor of negotiations.
"We are talking to them. I think they're being serious. I think ... they are being by far the most serious that we've seen them, but that doesn't mean we get there. We'll see what happens," the President remarked.
The remarks signal a continuation of diplomatic overtures, despite persistent tensions between the two nations.
