Chelsea is reportedly exploring a major summer transfer spree, with reports suggesting the club has inquired about five players from Xabi Alonso's former stomping ground, Real Madrid.

According to insider Simon Phillips, Chelsea used recent discussions regarding Marc Cucurella's potential sale to Real Madrid as an opportunity to ask about several other Los Blancos players. The Blues are said to be interested in the likes of Alvaro Carreras, Arda Guler, Aurelien Tchouameni, Victor Valdepenas, and Dean Huijsen.

Notably, Huijsen was a target for Chelsea even when he was on loan at Bournemouth. Carreras, a left-back, could be an interesting prospect, especially given Cucurella's departure potentially opens up a spot.

The potential sale of Cucurella, who joined Chelsea for a reported £60 million package in 2022 and is now being linked with a move to the Bernabeu for just under £51.8 million, raises questions about the club's transfer strategy. Replacing an experienced player like Cucurella with a less proven option like Carreras could be seen as a gamble.

While players like Tchouameni or Guler could be exciting acquisitions, their willingness to move to Stamford Bridge, especially with Chelsea not participating in European football next season and the club's current league position, remains uncertain. The project at Chelsea doesn't currently appear to be trending positively.

However, the presence of Xabi Alonso, who has a proven track record as a successful coach, might be a key factor in convincing some players to make the move, particularly those who have previously played under him.
