Trump Criticizes Obama's Iran Deal, Denies Funding Reports

President Trump asserted that his approach to Iran is superior to the nuclear agreement negotiated under the Obama administration, while also refuting claims of a U.S.-backed reconstruction fund.

Speaking at the conclusion of the G7 summit in France, President Trump employed strong language to condemn the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) brokered by his predecessor. He alleged that the Obama administration provided Iran with $1.7 billion in cash and hundreds of millions of dollars, asserting that Iran's leadership had mocked President Obama, referring to him with a vulgar epithet.

During the summit, President Trump faced questions regarding reports that a potential deal included a $300 billion reconstruction fund to be financed by Gulf allies. He directly denied these assertions.

"That's false," Trump stated. "People can invest if they want. I mean, what am I going to do, say nobody's ever allowed to invest? No, we're not investing. We're not putting up 10 cents." He added that any investment decisions would be up to individual parties involved.
