Liverpool Out, Arsenal In: Morgan Rogers Transfer Saga Continues

Liverpool are reportedly not in the race to sign Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, but their pursuit of another player could still impact Arsenal's chances of landing Rogers.

While Liverpool were previously linked with Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, recent reports suggest they've shifted their focus. It's speculated that after acquiring Florian Wirtz last year, Liverpool no longer see Rogers as a priority, instead eyeing a more traditional winger like Yan Diomande.

This development, however, might complicate things for Arsenal. According to Give Me Sport, Aston Villa could use the potential fee RB Leipzig might pay for Diomande as a benchmark to set their own valuation for Rogers. Villa are reportedly reluctant to sell, but a significant offer could force their hand, potentially putting pressure on Arsenal to overspend.

The Gunners might benefit from securing a deal for Rogers swiftly, especially if Liverpool splash a large sum on Diomande, which could inflate the transfer market for similar players. Last summer, Rogers' value was estimated around £80 million, but following an impressive season with 14 goals and eight assists, his price tag could now be as high as £100 million, a figure considered fair in the current market.

Despite Arsenal's significant spending last summer to bolster their squad depth, paying such a premium for a single player isn't their usual MO. Rogers, however, is highlighted as a top attacking midfielder in Europe, fitting the ideal age profile for a major transfer and showing potential to make a long-term impact at a club like Arsenal, similar to Declan Rice's high-profile move.
