US Embassy in Kuwait Reopens After Iranian Attacks

The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait officially resumed operations on Wednesday, following a suspension of services implemented in March due to Iranian drone attacks. The reopening coincided with a visit by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to a State Department spokesperson, the embassy, situated in Kuwait City, will immediately recommence providing emergency services for American citizens. Other consular services are scheduled to be reinstated in a phased manner.

Embassy operations in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were temporarily suspended in March. This measure was taken after Iranian drones targeted the U.S. missions in response to American and Israeli strikes on Iran.

During his visit to Kuwait for discussions with allies regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran, Secretary Rubio participated in a flag-raising ceremony at the embassy on Wednesday.

"The American flag: a symbol of liberty, unity, and freedom now flies proudly once again over Kuwait City. Kuwait is an indispensable partner for regional security and stability," Secretary Rubio stated in a social media post following the ceremony, emphasizing the strategic importance of Kuwait.
