According to a social media post from the U.S. Central Command, these strikes coincide with the U.S. preparation to reimpose a blockade on Iranian shipping. This action follows Iran's declaration of its intention to close the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. blockade is scheduled to become effective at 4:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM GMT), as confirmed by the Central Command.
