Coventry Nears £17M Deal for Eintracht Frankfurt Defender Aurele Amenda

Newly-promoted Coventry City is reportedly closing in on a significant £17 million deal for Eintracht Frankfurt's Swiss centre-back, Aurele Amenda, according to BBC Sport.

This potential transfer marks a major move for the Sky Blues as they ramp up their activity in the transfer window. Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC reports that the agreement for Amenda would involve an initial fee of £15.4 million, with an additional £1.7 million in add-ons. The defender is expected to sign a four-year contract.

Amenda, who recently returned from the World Cup, is now reportedly ready to finalize a move. Manager Frank Lampard is said to have played a key role in persuading the player with a "strong pitch."

This acquisition would follow other notable signings for Coventry, including Loum Tchaouna from Burnley and the permanent capture of Frank Onyeka from Brentford. Following Amenda's potential arrival, the club's priority is believed to be securing a goalkeeper, with Carl Rushworth being a primary target. However, Brighton's high valuation might lead Coventry to consider Chelsea's Filip Jorgensen as an alternative.
