Inter Milan is on the verge of signing Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, with club-to-club agreement already in place and personal terms nearing completion.
The Serie A champions have reportedly made significant progress in securing the Argentine international. Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla shared that Inter has been rapidly closing the gap on Romero's proposed salary and agent commissions in recent hours.
With a formal understanding between Tottenham and Inter established, the Italian club is now focused on facilitating player departures to meet registration requirements for Romero. This move also aims to preempt potential interest from other European clubs.
Should the transfer materialize, it would mark a return to Serie A for Romero, who previously received Defender of the Year accolades in Italy before his move to North London.
However, the situation is not without its critics. Journalist Dan Kilpatrick has voiced his disappointment with Romero's captaincy at Spurs, suggesting the player prioritized his national team commitments over club duties. Kilpatrick stated that Romero's time at Tottenham "has just naturally come to an end."
