Manchester United have shut down transfer rumors surrounding captain Bruno Fernandes, making it clear he is not available for sale despite reported interest from Turkish club Galatasaray.
Galatasaray is reportedly eyeing a significant move for the Portuguese star before the transfer window closes, but United's stance is unwavering. Fernandes is considered a key player in manager Michael Carrick's setup, and he has given no indication of wanting to leave Old Trafford. With the Red Devils returning to the Champions League, retaining their most influential playmaker is seen as crucial.
Sources indicate that Manchester United views Fernandes as not for sale at any price and will instantly dismiss any offers from Galatasaray. While the Turkish club is allegedly prepared to table around €50 million (£42.7m) and offer Fernandes a lucrative four-year contract, no official bid has been made. Notably, Fernandes's previous overseas release clause of approximately €65m (£57m) has expired, giving United complete control over his future.
Juventus and AC Milan have also been mentioned as clubs showing interest, but Manchester United intends to reject all offers in the final weeks of the transfer window. Fernandes himself has not requested a transfer and remains committed to the club.
Selling Fernandes now would be a questionable move for United. He remains the creative engine of the team and set a Premier League record with 21 assists last season. Losing him just before a Champions League campaign would create a void that €50 million would struggle to fill. While his contract situation, with only one year remaining (plus a club option for another), will need addressing eventually, now is not the time to cash in.
Despite Galatasaray potentially offering a substantial salary and Champions League football, Fernandes has shown no desire to force an exit. Furthermore, United has been strengthening the squad this summer rather than preparing for life without their influential player.
