Al-Hilal Eyes Martinelli: Arsenal Open to £50m Deal

Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal is reportedly in advanced talks with Arsenal to sign winger Gabriel Martinelli, with a package deal nearing £50 million on the table.

Transfer insider Ben Jacobs revealed on social media platform X that negotiations have commenced between Al-Hilal and Arsenal for the 25-year-old Brazilian international. Jacobs indicated that the Saudi club is keen on securing Martinelli and is prepared to offer around £50 million.

While Martinelli received interest from Saudi Arabia last summer, he is now reportedly more receptive to a move to the Middle East. Arsenal is willing to sanction a permanent sale if a suitable financial agreement is reached before the transfer window closes.

The potential transfer comes after a period of uncertainty regarding Martinelli's role at Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta has seemingly moved the winger out of his core plans for the upcoming season, as evidenced by his absence from the squad for the Community Shield and the opening Premier League match against Coventry City.

Jacobs' update suggests Martinelli has been informed by the club that they wish to sell him to make room for new attacking signings and reduce the wage bill. Earlier in the summer, Turkish club Galatasaray made a £38.4 million offer, which Martinelli rejected as he apparently held out for a more prominent European opportunity.

With fewer high-profile European options available, Al-Hilal's significant financial offer now appears to be the most practical route for both the player and Arsenal to part ways.
