Bournemouth has secured the signing of Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio on a season-long loan, with an option to buy that could reach £15 million.

The Cherries are making moves in the transfer market, and this deal for Di Gregorio adds significant competition in the goalkeeping department. The agreement reportedly has no upfront loan fee, but a penalty clause means Bournemouth will owe £1 million if they opt not to make the transfer permanent.

This signing comes amidst a notable shuffle in the goalkeeper landscape. Di Gregorio's move to Bournemouth follows Guglielmo Vicario's switch to Juventus, who had previously pursued Parma's Zion Suzuki. Suzuki ultimately joined Aston Villa.

The arrival of Di Gregorio puts added pressure on current Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. The Serbian was signed for a substantial fee just a year ago and, despite a solid performance against Manchester City to open the season, the club's pursuit of new talent suggests a desire for improved performances or greater depth between the posts.

New boss Marco Rose appears keen to bolster his options, and the prospect of competition might just push Petrovic to elevate his game to the next level, ensuring a dynamic battle for the starting spot.
