Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Liverpool's highly-rated youngster Rio Ngumoha as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options. Despite a summer signing, squad departures have left the Gunners needing more depth up front.
The club saw Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus move on late in the transfer window, and failed to secure other key attacking targets. This situation has apparently led them to monitor one of Liverpool's most promising young talents, with former striker Daniel Sturridge having previously described Ngumoha as a "fearless" player.
According to journalist Alan Nixon via TEAMtalk, Arsenal are tracking Ngumoha's progress and might consider a move if his game time at Anfield starts to dwindle. The 18-year-old has already impressed, breaking into Liverpool's senior squad and featuring in significant matches, including European fixtures, all while competing with more established attackers.
Competition for places is a key factor in Arsenal's interest. Liverpool boasts a strong frontline, meaning Ngumoha's path to regular starts isn't guaranteed. However, Liverpool clearly rates him highly and is reportedly working to secure his long-term future, which would make any transfer approach from Arsenal incredibly challenging.
From an Arsenal perspective, the interest is logical. Ngumoha fits the profile of a young, direct winger comfortable with taking on defenders – qualities top clubs consistently seek. He also possesses the potential for long-term first-team development rather than just being a squad addition.
Nevertheless, this isn't a straightforward opportunity. Liverpool has already provided him with senior minutes and appears to view him as part of their future plans.
