The 28-year-old Swedish international has yet to start a Premier League match and has accumulated only 12 minutes on the field in the league. He is no longer the first-choice striker for the London club, prompting calls for him to showcase his abilities on the international stage.
Graham Potter, speaking to Fotbollskanalen, stated, "Viktor Gyökeres has had a tough start to the season, but he is appreciated and guaranteed playing time with the national team. That should be a good reason to want to use the national team to show Mikel Arteta what he can do."
Gyokeres enjoyed an impressive debut season with Arsenal, playing a crucial role in their Premier League title victory with over 20 goals across all competitions. Despite his proven quality, Kai Havertz has often been preferred by the Gunners this season. If Gyokeres can impress for Sweden, Arsenal might consider offering him more starting opportunities as the long season progresses and squad depth becomes vital.
At the peak of his career, Gyokeres is unlikely to be content with a bench role. While he was linked with a summer exit, his future at Arsenal remains uncertain. If his playing time doesn't improve in the coming months, speculation about another departure, possibly in the January transfer window, could resurface.
