Arsenal's Noni Madueke could be on the move in January, with multiple Premier League clubs reportedly keeping tabs on the winger's situation as his playing time dwindles.
Despite a promising first year at the Emirates, the 24-year-old attacker has struggled to secure consistent league minutes this season. His chances have become even more limited with the impressive emergence of young talent Max Dowman, who is now a strong contender for game time on the right wing.
According to Football Insider, several unnamed Premier League outfits are closely monitoring Madueke ahead of the January transfer window. Madueke has only managed 23 minutes of Premier League action across Arsenal's first four league games and has started just once in the club's last six competitive matches. This dip in involvement has even seen him miss out on a spot in England's latest squad.
He did offer a reminder of his capabilities in the Carabao Cup, netting a goal in Arsenal's 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town. Coincidentally, Dowman also scored twice in that same game, highlighting the intense competition Madueke now faces for a place in the team.
Dowman's rapid ascent is hard to ignore. The teenager's recent performances have earned widespread praise, with his quick decision-making and composure establishing him as a genuine first-team option rather than just an academy prospect.
While Madueke's lack of game time might make an exit understandable from his perspective, Arsenal needs to carefully consider weakening their attacking depth mid-season. Madueke brings valuable Premier League experience, can play on either flank, and offers a direct threat in one-on-one situations – qualities that could prove crucial during periods of injury or fixture congestion.
However, Dowman's rise has undeniably shifted the pecking order. Arsenal no longer solely rely on Madueke as one of their few natural right-sided attackers. The crucial question now is whether manager Mikel Arteta still views him as a key rotation player. If so, a January sale would appear premature. But if Madueke continues to receive only sporadic substitute appearances, keeping him against his wishes might not make much sense.
