Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham are reportedly in a race to sign highly-rated Brentford right-back Michael Kayode, with Newcastle United also keeping tabs on the defender.
Kayode has emerged as one of Europe's most sought-after young talents, impressing with his consistent performances for Brentford and earning a call-up to Italy's senior national team. His profile was further boosted after he played the full 90 minutes and scored in Italy's recent 4-1 UEFA Nations League victory over Turkey.
Sources indicate that Liverpool has placed Kayode at the "top of their watchlist" as they aim to reinforce their right-back options. Arsenal and Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, looking to add his athleticism to their defensive units. Meanwhile, Italian clubs, including Juventus, are keen to bring the former Juventus and Fiorentina youth player back to Serie A.
As of now, no official bids have been made to Brentford, and no transfer negotiations have commenced. The situation remains in the "monitoring and reporting" phase ahead of the January transfer window. Brentford manager Keith Andrews and the club management consider Kayode a crucial player and have no plans to sell him mid-season. Kayode committed his future to the club in July 2026, signing a new six-year contract that extends until June 2032, significantly strengthening Brentford's negotiating position.
Signed from Fiorentina in 2025 for €17.5 million, Kayode's market value is now estimated to be around €40 million. Brentford is expected to demand a premium, likely in the region of €60-€65 million, for any serious discussions. Kayode, a physically strong, right-footed full-back, combines blistering pace with strong defensive capabilities and effective attacking overlaps, fitting the mold of a modern defender. Given his long-term contract and Brentford's firm stance, a mid-season transfer appears highly unlikely, but top clubs will continue to track his progress throughout the season.
