US Central Command Says Saudi Arabia Credibly Seeking End to Yemen Conflict

Commander of the United States Central Command General Kenneth McKenzie said that Saudi Arabia was honestly seeking to resolve the conflict in Yemen according to declared agreements.

Unfortunately, a third party in these negotiations – Iran – does not want an end to this war, he said in remarks to the Middle East Institute and tweeted on the CENTCOM’s official Arabic page.

He said he believed Riyadh was ready to negotiate and that it has good intentions to resolve the crisis.

He made his remarks as Saudi Arabia recently hosted a donor conference on Yemen and as the Iran-backed Houthi militias continue to impede the delivery of vital humanitarian aid.

Instead of complying to United Nations calls for a ceasefire, the Houthis have carried out booby-trapped drone attacks against Saudi Arabia, McKenzie said.
