Iran's IRIB news agency says the Iranian pilot had to change altitude quickly to avoid collision with the jets, leading to several injuries
Two US fighter jets performed a "dangerous" manoeuvre near an Iranian passenger plane in Syrian airspace, causing the pilot to change altitude quickly to avoid collision, Iranian media reported on Thursday.
Video posted by Iran's IRIB news agency showed a jet from the window of a plane and passengers who appeared to be bleeding from their heads - reportedly as a result of the sudden altitude change.
Reuters reported the news agency originally said that an Israeli jet had come in close contact with the plane - belonging to Mahan Air - but later said it was two American fighter jets, citing the pilot of the passenger plane who had warned the fighter planes to keep a safe distance.
Reuters reported that Mahan Air Flight 1152 landed safely in Beirut and all passengers disembarked.
The news agency said there were only minor injuries, according to the head of the Beirut airport.
