Why is the Islah Party seeking hard to obstruct the Presidential Council in Yemen

Although some members of the Presidential Council are linked to Islah party, the majority of the members are opposed to the Muslim Brotherhood and represent a significant shift away from the Islamist control over Yemen politics, which was brought to prominence by the Arab Spring in 2011.

These members present a challenge and constraint on Islah efforts to control the government trajectory.

They know that the Council is looking to put an end to the looting of government coffers, which threatens their pockets. They also fear the replacement of Islah officials throughout the country and the loss of control over key territories, access to energy sources, and power over the hearts and minds of the people.

Most of all, they are concerned about being exposed for their corruption and treachery, and being held accountable for their crimes.
