Former Yemeni President, Field Marshal Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, was officially farewelled in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Friday. The funeral procession was attended by a broad spectrum of state officials and citizens.
The Yemeni state leadership, led by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and council members, along with numerous senior political and military figures, participated in the official funeral.
Funeral prayers were conducted for the late president at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in central Riyadh. His body was subsequently interred at the Al-Oud cemetery, with a significant turnout from the Yemeni expatriate community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On behalf of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, Al-Alimi expressed profound grief over the passing of former President Hadi. He emphasized that Yemen has lost one of its most prominent statesmen and a staunch defender of the republican system and national principles.
Al-Alimi described the late president as a leader characterized by wisdom, patience, and responsibility, who consistently upheld Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and constitutional legitimacy. He highlighted Hadi's role in navigating the country through exceptional circumstances and preserving its regional and international recognition and legitimate institutions.
The Yemeni Presidency had previously announced a three-day period of official mourning, with flags flown at half-mast and condolence books opened both domestically and internationally, in tribute to the late president's national legacy and standing.
