Informed diplomatic sources said that Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi has thwarted the prisoner swap negotiations with the Houthis, held in Switzerland under the auspices of the United Nations.
The sources said that Hadi stipulated the release of his brother Nasser Mansour in exchange for releasing 200 Houthi prisoners, which sparked various disagreements and discrepancies, including the Saudi side, which found itself in front of personal deals and interests between the Yemen's Brotherhood, Hadi and vice president Ali Mohsen, each of whom concluded deals and exchange prisoners with the Houthis separately.
The Southern Transitional Council (STC) rejected Hadi and the Islah's conditions and their deals with the Houthis, as it only serves their personal interests. The sources said.
In the same context, diplomatic sources said that the prisoner swap negotiations failed due to Hadi and his adherence to the release of his brother, indifferent to the rest of the prisoners, which prompted the UN envoy's office to postpone the signing of the agreement between the parties to an uncertain future period in Amman.
During the talks in which the prisoners on both sides were to be released, the government delegation focused on the release of Hadi Nasser Mansour's brother, while the fate of former Defense Minister Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, Faisal Rajab and others was ignored.
