Former US President Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally on Saturday, but his campaign said he was “fine,” and the Secret Service said he was “safe”
Blood was seen coming out of Trump’s ear, but he was rushed off stage by the Secret Service.
“The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available,” a statement read.
The local district attorney said Trump was “grazed” by gunfire and the shooter was dead, according to a Washington Post reporter. Another person in the rally was critically wounded.
Trump thanked law enforcement and first responders for their swift action during this heinous act, a statement from his campaign said. “He is fine and is being examined at a local medical facility. More details will follow,” the campaign said.
President Joe Biden received an initial briefing on the incident, according to the White House.
Elon Musk posted on X saying: “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
