Yemen's (p.t.o.c) welcomes US sanctions on Houthi leaders involved in organized crimes and arms smuggling

The Platform for Tracking Organized Crime and Money Laundering in Yemen (P.T.O.C) welcomes the inclusion of Hassan Ahmed Hassan Al-Khulani, known as "Abu Shaheed", the deputy of the Foreign Affairs Security and Intelligence Agency, on the US Treasury Department's sanctions list.

This decision came in light of his involvement in smuggling weapons from Iran to Yemen through complex smuggling networks, as clearly stated by the US Treasury Department.

The platform has played an active role in exposing Al-Khulani's role and responsibilities related to the external activities of the Houthi group, including weapons and fighters smuggling to and from the Horn of Africa region, in blatant violation of international resolutions aiming to bring peace to Yemen.

The platform appreciates this important step within the framework of international efforts to combat organized crime and money laundering, which directly contribute to prolonging the war and increasing the suffering of the Yemeni people. The platform also calls on the international community to take further steps, including imposing strict sanctions on more Houthi leaders involved in organized crimes and money laundering that finance the war and fuel conflict in the country.

These sanctions represent an important step towards enhancing security and stability in Yemen, and achieving justice for the victims of war and criminal practices led by the Houthi group.

The platform reaffirms its full commitment to continue its efforts in uncovering and tracking anyone contributing to the continuation of conflict and criminal activities that harm the Yemeni people and hinder the path to peace.
