Highway crash kills 37 in Brazil: Rescuers find 'bodies everywhere' after truck collides with bus carrying factory workers

At least 37 people were killed in a bus crash in Brazil today which left 'bodies everywhere'.

Another 15 were injured after a truck collided with the bus which was carrying textile factory workers on a highway in Sao Paulo state.

Rescuers were working to extract passengers from the wreckage on the highway today amid fears that the death toll will continue to rise.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash while emergency workers treat injured people at the scene.

The death toll, initially reported as 32, was expected to rise further, state police said in a statement.

'We know there are more victims in the wreckage of the vehicles, but we don't know how many,' it said.

A police source told AFP that when rescue workers arrived at the scene, 'there were bodies everywhere.'

'It was impossible to tell who had been in the truck and who had been in the bus,' he said.

Local media reports said there were 53 people on the bus. The truck driver reportedly survived the crash.

The collision took place outside the town of Taguai, which is 210 miles west of Sao Paulo, Brazil's biggest city and economic capital
