Iran Strikes Kuwait, Bahrain Amidst U.S. Cease-Fire Strain

Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain on Wednesday resulted in at least one fatality and over 60 injuries, disrupting regional air travel during a peak holiday period, according to U.S. military and local authorities. This marks the first reported death in a Gulf state since the U.S. and Iran agreed to a cease-fire in April.

U.S. Central Command confirmed that a series of Iranian drones aimed at U.S. forces in Kuwait missed their intended targets, and no American personnel sustained injuries. However, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that an Iranian ballistic missile and drone assault caused significant damage to the country's international airport, leading to one death and injuring 63 people, as stated by the Ministry of Health.

Bahrain's military announced it had intercepted three Iranian missiles and several drones targeting civilian locations. Simultaneously, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for targeting an American naval base in Bahrain during the night.

In response to the regional attacks, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by state media, asserted Iran's right to strike the source of U.S. assaults on facilities in Qeshm Island. U.S. Central Command stated it had carried out "self-defense strikes" on Qeshm Island in retaliation for attempted Iranian attacks across the region.
